TEFAF Maastricht 2027 takes place from 13 to 18 March 2027 at the MECC in Maastricht, with the invitation-only preview days just before the public opening. It is widely regarded as the world’s premier fair for fine art, antiques and design: around 260 leading dealers from some 20 countries, covering 7,000 years of art history under one roof. This guide covers tickets, practicalities and, our specialty, how to get there properly.

TEFAF Maastricht 2027 dates

The 2027 edition runs 13 to 18 March 2027 at MECC Maastricht (Forum 100, Maastricht). As in previous years, the first days are reserved for invited guests and the trade, followed by the public days. The 2026 edition ran 14 to 19 March with previews on 12 and 13 March; expect a similar rhythm. Check tefaf.com for the official schedule as the fair approaches.

What is TEFAF?

The European Fine Art Fair, organized by The European Fine Art Foundation since 1988, is the fair where museums, collectors and connoisseurs buy. Old Masters hang a few aisles from antiquities, design, jewellery and modern art, and every object has passed TEFAF’s famously strict vetting. It is less a market than a temporary museum where nearly everything is for sale.

Tickets and practical details

  • Tickets: at the 2026 edition, a day ticket cost about €50 on weekdays and €75 on weekend days, with a multi-day pass around €155. Expect comparable 2027 pricing on tefaf.com when sales open.
  • Dress code: officially none. In practice you will see everything from tailored suits to collectors deliberately incognito in jeans. Smart is never wrong here.
  • Time needed: a serious visit takes a full day; collectors often come twice.
  • The flowers: TEFAF’s floral displays are famous in their own right and worth the entrance alone, as any first-time visitor discovers.

How to get to TEFAF Maastricht

Maastricht sits in the far south of the Netherlands, closer to Belgium and Germany than to Amsterdam, which catches many international visitors off guard. The realistic travel times to the MECC:

  • From Amsterdam or Schiphol: about 2 to 2.5 hours by car. The train requires a change and a local connection to the MECC; with gallery purchases in mind, most visitors prefer door-to-door.
  • From Brussels Airport: about 1 hour 15 by car, often the smartest airport for TEFAF.
  • From Düsseldorf Airport: about 1 hour 15 as well, ideal from German connections.
  • From Maastricht Aachen Airport: 15 minutes; this is also where private jet traffic lands during fair week.

TEFAF by chauffeur: how collectors actually travel

TEFAF week is SilverDrive’s busiest Maastricht period, and the logistics are specific. Hotels in Maastricht sell out months ahead, so many guests stay in Liège, Aachen or even Brussels and commute to the fair daily. Gallery dinners run late. Purchases need discreet handling. A dedicated chauffeur solves all three: one car and driver for the week, cross-border without paperwork, waiting when the dinner overruns.

We drive TEFAF guests with the Mercedes S-Class and Maybach for principals, and the V-Class when an advisor or family travels along. Multi-day bookings during fair week should be reserved early. See our Maastricht chauffeur service or contact us for TEFAF week arrangements; single transfers can be booked online.

Where to stay during TEFAF

Kruisherenhotel and Château St. Gerlach are the classic TEFAF addresses and the first to fill. Once Maastricht is full, the practical alternatives are Liège (30 minutes), Aachen (35 minutes) and Brussels (1 hour 15), all comfortable daily commutes with a driver and an early booking.
