Schiphol transfers in about an hour and a quarter, business on the Utrechtseweg and Airborne days from Oosterbeek to the John Frost Bridge.
Arnhem sits on the Rhine where the Veluwe forest comes down to the river, close to the German border. Business visitors come for the energy companies and conference venues, families for the zoo and the open air museum, and visitors from the United Kingdom, Poland and beyond come to follow the Airborne story of September 1944.
A SilverDrive chauffeur links all of it with one car and one price agreed at booking, and the same booking can continue to Nijmegen, Apeldoorn or Düsseldorf.
A chauffeur service in Arnhem is a car from SilverDrive’s own fleet and a screened, English-speaking driver, booked at a fixed price before you travel. In Arnhem it covers Schiphol transfers of about an hour and a quarter, business days at the energy companies and conference venues around the city, event nights at GelreDome, and full days that follow the Airborne story of September 1944 from Oosterbeek to the John Frost Bridge.
Arnhem is the capital of Gelderland, on the Rhine where the Veluwe forest comes down to the river. TenneT, the high-voltage grid operator for the Netherlands and much of Germany, and the network company Alliander have their head offices on the Utrechtseweg, the national sports centre at Papendal sits in the woods outside town, and Burgers’ Zoo and the Netherlands Open Air Museum share the northern edge of the city. None of these is next to the station, which is the practical case for a car and a driver.
Arnhem bookings fall into five groups, and each one is quoted as a single fixed price before you commit.
| Booking | Typical use | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Airport transfer | Schiphol, Eindhoven or Düsseldorf to Arnhem | Flight tracking, meet and greet, 60 minutes of waiting after touchdown |
| Business chauffeur | Head-office visits, Papendal conferences, client dinners | A car at a stated time, door to door |
| Hourly chauffeur | Several appointments, or a day that will change as it goes | The car and chauffeur stay with you |
| Airborne and Veluwe days | Oosterbeek, the John Frost Bridge, the Kröller-Müller Museum | One chauffeur for the whole day, waiting included |
| Event transport | GelreDome concerts and matches | Agreed drop-off and pickup points |
Schiphol is about 108 kilometres from Arnhem, roughly an hour and a quarter by road in normal traffic. The route runs past Utrecht and then east on the A12, and the A12 and the A50 around Arnhem are the stretches that slow down at peak times; our Netherlands rush hour guide explains when.
Your chauffeur tracks the flight, waits in the arrivals hall with a name sign and includes 60 minutes of waiting after touchdown, so a slow passport queue or a late bag costs nothing extra. Our Schiphol pickup guide shows where you meet. For departures, the pickup time is worked back from your check-in with a buffer for the A12.
Guests flying privately can be met through the Schiphol VIP Centre or at Jet Aviation, the general aviation terminal at Schiphol.
Eindhoven Airport is roughly 85 kilometres away, a little over an hour by road, and Düsseldorf Airport, across the German border, is about an hour and a quarter. The same fixed-price, flight-tracked pickup applies at both; see our Eindhoven Airport guide and Düsseldorf Airport guide.
Most corporate bookings in Arnhem start or end on the Utrechtseweg, the road west out of the centre where TenneT and Alliander have their head offices. For a visitor who lands at Schiphol in the morning and flies out the same evening, one booking covers the day: airport to office, waiting time between meetings, and back to the terminal without anyone watching the clock.
Papendal is the other regular address. The national sports centre, about eight kilometres from Arnhem in the Veluwe woods, is the training base for many of the country’s top athletes and also runs a conference centre, which a chauffeur reaches straight from the airport or the station.
Arnhem Centraal is an international station as well, with ICE trains between Amsterdam and Frankfurt calling alongside the Intercity services, and for one person going from centre to centre the train is cheaper than a car. The chauffeur is the better tool when the address is not at the station, when there is luggage, or when the day has four stops in it. For regular visitors, our corporate car service guide explains standing arrangements.
GelreDome is Arnhem’s stadium, built with a retractable roof and a pitch that slides out of the building, so it can switch between football and concerts. It holds around 34,000 people for sport and up to about 41,000 for concerts, and on those evenings the roads around it fill early.
A chauffeur turns that into two fixed points. You are set down at the drop-off zone that applies for the event, you agree a pickup point before you go in, and the car is waiting there after the encore or the final whistle. Groups travel together in the seven-seat V-Class or the 16-seat Sprinter VIP; see event transportation.
In September 1944 the road bridge at Arnhem was the furthest objective of Operation Market Garden, and the British and Polish airborne troops who fought here are remembered across the west of the city. The main sites are a short drive apart but awkward to link by public transport, which makes a chauffeured day the practical way to see them.
Each September the Airborne commemorations bring veterans’ families, regimental associations and visitors from the United Kingdom, Poland and beyond to Oosterbeek and Arnhem, including a ceremony at the foot of the John Frost Bridge. Those weekends are busy at all of these sites, so book the car early.
One honest point: our chauffeurs are drivers, not licensed battlefield guides. If you want the battle explained on the ground, book a guide separately and we plan the day around their programme, with the car waiting at each stop.
North of the city, the land rises into the Veluwe, the largest forest area in the Netherlands, and the main destinations are close.
Our Dutch-language page on a day at the Hoge Veluwe with a chauffeur sets out a full itinerary, and Apeldoorn, with Paleis Het Loo, lies on the other side of the forest.
Approximate drive times from central Arnhem in normal traffic:
| From central Arnhem to | Approximate drive time |
|---|---|
| Nijmegen | About 25 minutes |
| Kröller-Müller Museum, Otterlo | 20 to 30 minutes |
| Apeldoorn | About 30 minutes |
| Utrecht | About 45 minutes |
| Eindhoven Airport (EIN) | A little over 1 hour |
| Schiphol Airport (AMS) | About 1 hour 15 minutes |
| Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) | About 1 hour 15 minutes |
The German border is close, and cross-border journeys are common: one chauffeur drives the whole route with no change of car. See our Nijmegen and Düsseldorf pages for the neighbouring cities, or the Utrecht page if your day continues west.
Arnhem’s centre is compact, and the area inside the ring road down to the Rijnkade is a low emission zone for older diesel cars and vans; from 1 June 2026, diesels inside it must meet at least the Euro 5 standard. Parking in the centre is limited, and much of the shopping core is closed to through traffic. Your chauffeur sets you down at the nearest practical point to your hotel, restaurant or meeting, waits outside the core and collects you where you agreed.
Every vehicle belongs to SilverDrive’s own fleet:

SilverDrive was founded in Amsterdam by Joshua Faerber and drives across the Netherlands and into Germany regularly, in cars it owns rather than rides passed to a subcontractor. In Arnhem that means a fixed price agreed at booking, screened English-speaking chauffeurs, free flight tracking on airport pickups and availability around the clock. For private aviation we work with the Schiphol VIP Centre and Jet Aviation, and on multi-day bookings the same chauffeur stays with you throughout.
See all the places we cover on our cities page.
About 1 hour 15 minutes in normal traffic for roughly 108 kilometres, past Utrecht and then east on the A12. Peak hours on the A12 add to that. For a departure, your chauffeur plans backwards from check-in with a margin; for an arrival, the flight is tracked, so a delay moves the pickup and not the price.
Schiphol is the main international airport, about 1 hour 15 minutes away. Eindhoven Airport is roughly 85 kilometres by road, a little over an hour, and Düsseldorf Airport across the German border is about 1 hour 15 minutes. SilverDrive collects at all three with flight tracking and a fixed price.
Yes. A day booking can link the Airborne Museum at Hartenstein in Oosterbeek, the Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery and Airborne at the Bridge on the Rijnkade. Our chauffeurs drive and wait; they are not battlefield guides, so book a licensed guide separately if you want the battle explained on site.
Yes. Your chauffeur sets you down at the drop-off point that applies on the day, agrees a pickup point with you before you go in and waits for the return. On event days the roads around the stadium fill early, so the departure time includes a margin.
For one person travelling centre to centre, yes: Intercity trains and the ICE to Germany call at Arnhem Centraal. A chauffeur earns its place with luggage, early flights, addresses outside the centre such as Papendal or Oosterbeek, days with several stops and groups travelling together.
